Garnet Mica Schist, polished. Mappleton, Holderness Coast, East Yorkshire, England.

A truly stunning and very unusually available (for Yorkshire !) garnet mica schist. 

Another fine example of glacial activity on the holderness coast I believe these specimens originate from Scotland. 

Garnet mica schist is a variation of mica schist, a metamorphic rock formed by medium grade metamorphism which is usually a combination of both heat and pressure applied t the original rock, often clay, mud or shale.

Polished to a very high finish.
