Collection: Fossil Shark Teeth

Megalodon teeth are the largest shark teeth ever found, and can be over 7 inches long. They are triangular, serrated, and symmetrical, similar to the teeth of modern white sharks, but larger and broader. Megalodon teeth are made of hydroxylapatite, a dense, hard substance that is stronger than bone. They are thick and robust, with a base that is thicker than other sharks. The teeth have fine serrations along the edge, and a dark band of color called the bourlette between the tooth and its root.
